Selokan Van der Wijck is a small but interesting branch of the larger Selokan Mataram system.
It starts at the Hulu Selokan Van der Wijck, Magelang Regency, just north of the main canal, and splits off to follow its own route through the local fields and villages. This channel was originally part of the early 20th‑century irrigation works linked to the Van der Wijck project, and today it still helps distribute water from the Progo River intake toward farmland in Bantul Regency and Sleman Regency.
Along the way, Selokan Van der Wijck passes Talang Kali Petel, Bendung Banyurejo and the historic Buk Renteng Van der Wijck.
