Embung

Embung (Water reservoirs)

Embung is the Indonesian word for (water) reservoir. They are built across Indonesia to capture and store rainwater or runoff from rivers and hillsides. Unlike large dams, embungs are relatively small in scale but strategically important for rural and semi‑arid regions.

They are typically constructed in hilly or elevated areas where natural contours make water collection efficient.

An embung is a popular place for people to hangout, enjoy the scenere and to take a lot of selfies.
