Prambanan Temple is a Hindu temple complex, located on the border between the provinces of Central Java and Yogyakarta.
The temple is built in the 9th century and is dedicated to the Trimurti, namely the manifestation of God as Brahma (Creator), Vishnu (Preserver), and Shiva (Destroyer). Prambanan Temple is also known as Rara Jonggrang, which comes from the legend of a princess who was cursed into a stone statue by Bandung Bondowoso.
Prambanan Temple has a tall and slender architecture, with the Shiva temple as the main temple which reaches 47 meters. Prambanan Temple is one of the largest and most beautiful Hindu temples in Indonesia, and is an attraction for tourists from all over the world.
Prambanan Temple is approximately 17 kilometers northeast of the city of Yogyakarta.
