The inlet of the Bligo Tunnel is located at Bendung Karangtalun, a vital water control structure spanning the border of Magelang Regency and Sleman Regency.
This site diverts massive water currents from the Progo River directly into the underground siphon system of the Selokan Mataram. Originally conceptualized during the Dutch colonial era and completed during Japanese occupation, the historic intake infrastructure manages the initial flow that drives the region’s irrigation. Today, the pristine, rushing waters at the inlet area serve as a historical landmark.
Following recent site revitalizations, it has become a serene destination for sightseers, photography enthusiasts, and cyclists traveling along the scenic border trails.
