Bendung Karangtalun in Ngluwar, Magelang Regency, was built way back in 1909, during the colonial era.
This massive century-old weir sits right on the Progo River, marking the border between Central Java and Kulon Progo Regency. It is a designated cultural heritage site, but it is also a massive lifeline. The important Teworongan Bligo starts at this location.
Thanks to a recent major facelift, the area now features a beautiful green park, scenic gazebos, and viewing spots. You can easily reach Wisata Alam Ancol, on the other side of the river, via the nearby Jembatan Ancol.
Just keep in mind that since local management is still finalizing permissions, access to certain inner gates can sometimes be a bit restricted.
