Bendungan Sermo (Sermo Reservoir Dam), also known as Waduk Sermo, is one of the important infrastructures in Kulon Progo Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta.
This dam has a multifunctional function, not only as a provider of irrigation water for agriculture but also as a source of clean water and flood control. Apart from that, Sermo Reservoir is also an attractive tourist destination because of the natural beauty of the surroundings. With a large capacity, this dam plays a vital role in supporting the economic and social activities of the local community.
Waduk Sermo has undergone a major renovation in 2023. The renovation aimed to improve the water quality, the irrigation system, and the tourism facilities of the reservoir. In December 2023 the renovation was completed and Waduk Sermo was officially reopened to the public in January 2024.
