ANIEM Transformer Substation (Yogyakarta Kotagede)
Bangunan Cagar Budaya

Babon ANIEM (Kotagede) sits right at the northwest corner of the bustling Kotagede Traditional Market in Yogyakarta

Just like its siblings, this compact brick transformer station was built by the Dutch in the early 20th century to bring electricity to the area. However, this one has a unique survival story. The structure actually collapsed entirely during the devastating 2006 Yogyakarta earthquake. Thankfully, because of its protected heritage status, it was later meticulously reconstructed to match its exact original colonial look.

Today, it stands proudly at the busy market junction, seamlessly blending old Dutch utility design with traditional Javanese street life.
