Taman Makam Pejuang 45 Yogyakarta is a historic cemetery in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta, dedicated to Indonesia’s 1945 freedom fighters.
Built on 3 hectares of Sultan Ground in Balecatur, Gamping, it stands out for its unique family policy. Unlike standard National Heroes Cemeteries, it is the only site that allows wives to be buried alongside their veteran husbands. Managed by the Yayasan Taman Wiratama Pejuang 45, this landmark honors Yogyakarta’s vital role in the independence era.
Every August, local government officials, veterans, and descendants gather here for military honor ceremonies and traditional flower-strewing rituals (tabur bunga), making it a significant site for historical pilgrimage and remembrance.
