Gunung Berjo Godean

Mount Berjo Godean
Cagar Budaya

Gunung Berjo is a small, historically rich hill in Godean, Sleman Regency, that holds a sacred place in Javanese heritage.

The path, accessible via a quiet stone staircase, first leads to a small cemetery halfway up the slope. From there, a narrow bush trail winds through the woods to the summit, where a small protective house covers the final resting place of Raden Ayu Tolak Bronto, a noblewoman believed to be the daughter of the last Majapahit king. According to local folklore, the hill itself was formed when a mythical carrying pole snapped.

Today, the site remains a revered place of pilgrimage where visitors can quietly appreciate the hill’s deep history, natural beauty, and ancient geological roots.
