Gereja St. Antonius Padua Kotabaru

St. Anthony of Padua Church, Kotabaru
Bangunan Cagar Budaya

Gereja St. Antonius Padua Kotabaru is tucked away in the vibrant Kotabaru neighborhood in Yogyakarta and this beautiful Roman Catholic church has been around since 1926.

It was originally built during the Dutch colonial era to serve the local European community, but it has lived through quite a history, even being used as a military armory during World War II!

Because of its deep roots and beautiful Indies-style design, it was officially named a Cultural Heritage Site (Bangunan Cagar Budaya) in 2014. It’s still an active, lively parish today and stands as a must-see landmark for anyone exploring Yogyakarta’s colonial history.
