Monumen Medan Laga Rejodani is a historic monument in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta, honoring the brave student soldiers (Tentara Pelajar) who fought during the Indonesian National Revolution.
On May 29, 1949, Dutch forces outmaneuvered a small student unit in an open rice field here. Despite facing heavy mortar fire, the young fighters stood their ground, and eight student soldiers were killed in action. Today, the monument commemorates their sacrifice with distinct symbolic elements: a steel helmet representing the military, and sharpened bamboo symbolizing the local people’s militia.
The names of the eight fallen heroes are inscribed on its base, keeping their legacy alive along the historic Jalan Palagan Tentara Pelajar.
