Rumah Tradisional milik Mardi Utomo

Traditional house owned by Mardi Utomo
Bangunan Cagar Budaya

Rumah Tradisional milik Mardi Utomo is a traditional Javanese-style house in Mangir Lor, Bantul.

Built in 1955 by a local sugar merchant, the Mardi Utomo traditional home is a beautiful piece of Javanese history. It stands out for its unique Limasan Cere Gancet architecture and a rare raguman roof, featuring a bamboo ceiling meticulously woven and bound with natural palm fibers.

Though partially damaged during the 2006 earthquake, the structure was carefully reinforced with timber to preserve its authentic character. Today, it remains a proud living monument within the Mangir Tourism Village, offering a perfect, off-the-beaten-path stop for anyone interested in traditional Javanese craftsmanship.

Unfortunately, the house is currently (2026) in poor condition, and hopefully, it will be restored to its original state in the near future.
