Benteng Vastenburg – Surakarta

Fort Vastenburg - Surakarta
Cagar Budaya Nasional

Benteng Vastenburg, in the beautiful city Surakarta (also known by its unofficial name Solo), is one of those places where history suddenly feels close.

Built in the 18th century by the Dutch, the fort once guarded the city and kept an eye on the nearby kraton. Today, the thick walls and open courtyard have a completely different vibe, more relaxed, more local. People come here to stroll, take photos, or just enjoy the atmosphere of an old landmark standing quietly in the middle of a busy modern city.

The Fort itself is currently not accessible, but you can take a walk around the Fort and enjoy the scenery.

Facilities: Food stalls, Parking (paid), Toilets
