Tugu Jogja

Tugu Jogja is a historical monument which is a symbol of the city of Yogyakarta. This monument was built by Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono I in 1755 as a sign of people’s unity. This monument is cylindrical in shape with a conical tip and a small ball on top. Height is about 15 meters. This monument is located in the middle of the intersection between Jalan Jenderal Sudirman and Jalan Margo Utomo. This monument is also on an imaginary line connecting Parangtritis Beach, Panggung Krapyak, Yogyakarta Palace and Mount Merapi. This monument has spiritual and magical value for the people of Yogyakarta.
