Jam Gadang

The most iconic landmark in Bukittinggi is Jam Gadang, a clock tower built during the Dutch colonial era in the early 20th century. The clock mechanism was manufactured in the same factory as London’s Big Ben, making it a unique piece of history. Today, Jam Gadang serves as the centerpiece of the city, surrounded by a lively square where locals and tourists gather. Its distinctive Minangkabau-style roof reflects the region’s cultural identity.
